Question #1

What makes you apprehensive about public speaking?... What makes me apprehensive about public speaking is the fact that I have to stand up in front of everybody and speak. I get a little nervous kowing that people are staring at me and i don't know what they are thinking. I automatically assume that everyone is thinking negatively about me and I get nervous. I also get scared because I think that I am going to mess up and everyone is going to laugh at me. I do not like being the center of attention and when giving speeches all eyes are on you. Those are the main things that make me apprehensive about public speaking.

Hello Mickey, I'm the same as you I hate being the center of attention. The fact that you dont know what people are thinking can freak you out. I know....All eyes on you and that can suck especially if it's for something your not to into. Then when your on stage and you feel like man what if I freeze up or is it something on my teeth...and I dnt know it....omg they laughing at me and yes that can be so embrassing. See what we have to do is stop thinking so negative and just learn to deal with it for that moment at least.ttyl...8)

Well, when it comes to speaking in front of people, you already know ahead of time that everyone is going to be focusing their attention on you. I think I get more nervous at the idea of everyone losing interest in what I was saying. But I think that if you go in focused on your objective you will do fine. Think of it a little differently – your purpose, the reason for being in front of people is to send a message. I think that by just focusing on getting the information out there it shouldn’t matter what they think. As long as you accomplish your goal of sending the message, like everything else in life its up to your audience to interpret it. PS.. I think a lot of people are taking this class have the same fears as you, so we're all on the same page.
